PETER PIEK ist ein Leipziger Musiker und Künstler. Peter Piek ist das, was man umgangssprachlich als einen Tausendsassa bezeichnen würde und seine Talente und Begabungen hat er gänzlich den Schönen Künsten gewidmet. Neben Malerei und Literatur ist es stets Musik, die im Leben des umtriebigen Leipzigers Motor, Inspiration und letztlich Output ist. 2008 erschien sein Debütalbum, daß sich als detailverliebter Genre-Grenzgänger zwischen Pop britischer Prägung, Soul, Rock ´n´ Roll und Funk entpuppte. Peter Piek ist nahezu immer live unterwegs und das in ganz Europa. Egal ob mit seiner Band oder allein mit seiner Gitarre. Gerade spielte Peter Piek eine zweimonatige USA-Tour, die ihn durch fast alle Metropolen und Bundesstaaten führte. Im Jahre 2009 beendete er sein Malereistudium an der HGB Leipzig unter Neo Rauch, um sich ganz der Musik zu widmen! Im Juni 2010 erscheint sein 2. Album auf Noisedeluxe Records.

"I Paint It On A Wall" - der Titel des Albums ist Programm. Peter Piek malte Teile der Songtexte zuerst auf Leinwand, bevor die 19 Songs entstanden, die für "I Paint It On A Wall" aufgenommen worden sind. Immerhin 13 Songs haben die Auswahl für das Album bestanden. Deutlichstes Merkmal des Albums ist der hohe und sehr markante Gesang Piek's welcher zu polarisieren vermag. Obwohl der Multiinstrumentalist Piek fast alle Instrumente selbst eingespielt hat, finden sich auf dem Album eine ganze Reihe von Gastmusikern, wie die Berlinerin MissinCat, die Backingvocals singen darf. Ein sehr abwechslungsreiches Album das sich schwer in Schubladen einordnen lässt und doch am ehesten Pop ist. Brush, Pop mit Pinsel und Farbe fernab vom Hauptstrom und ganz ohne elektronischen Beigeschmacks. Dazu ist "I Paint It On A Wall" zu verschroben und unkonkret.

Peter Piek is a German painter, author, and songwriter. (Peter Piek did not exist between 2001 and 2006 this is what his self-written biography tells us. There used to be several Peters. Split into multiple partial personalities? as he remarks it laconically. He abandonded this state in 2006 when he reunited the remaining partial personalities. During this time he was studying Fine Art and Painting, when founded the artist group Malfront, wrote two books about his vision of painting. His quintessence: Painting just starts primarily with painting! Critics get rather complicated when they talk about Peter Piek as painter, using words like Being, the Physically compound consistency of the canvas and the rhythmic breathing which is synthesised into an interwoven interaction. If you try describe Peter Piek's music, you might classify it as Independent Rock, although it would hardly fit as this is not quite correct. The term Pop would not come close to his ambition for art, as his Songs are too ecclectic and complex. Peter Piek's voice is unusual. He sings in a high pitch, but not in head voice. It sounds similiar to Neil Young and Sigur Ros.
